The Florida Panthers are Stanley Cup champions again, and trade deadline acquisition Brad Marchand certainly played a massive role in it. The former Boston Bruins captain was simply incredible for the Panthers this post-season, recording 10 goals, 20 points, and a plus-17 rating in 23 games.

The Panthers could not have expected anything more than what they got from Marchand during the playoffs. The veteran forward not only put up strong offensive numbers but also was a great mentor for the club.

Now, Marchand is entering the summer as a pending unrestricted free agent, and he can hit the market on July 1 if he does not have his new deal by then. Given how well he played for the Panthers, it is very likely that the Panthers would love to keep him in Florida.

When asked by TNT's Jackie Redmond if he could return to the Panthers next season, Marchand said, "We'll see what happens here soon."

After the excellent post-season run Marchand had, it would not be surprising if he considered testing the market. This is especially so when noting that he is 37 years old, and this likely will be his last chance to land a big contract. The Panthers also have other pending UFAs like Sam Bennett and Aaron Ekblad this summer, so some major decisions need to be made.

Yet, with how marvelously he fit in with the Panthers, it would also be understandable if he ended up staying put in Florida.

No matter what happens between Marchand and the Panthers this summer, there is no question that bringing in No. 63 was a home run for Florida.
