Florida will play two games against the Dallas Stars in Tampere, Finland next season

The Florida Panthers are heading to Finland for the NHL Global Series later this year.

In news that was first reported last month by David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Panthers will be playing two regular season games against the Dallas Stars in Tampere, Finland.

The games will take place on Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2.

Additionally, the Panthers will be offering a presale for season ticket members, with details expected to come from the team in the next week or so.

This will be the third visit to Finland by the Panthers. They split a pair of games in Helsinki with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2009 and split two games with the Winnipeg Jets in 2018, also in Helsinki.

Now Florida will be traveling to Tampere, which is the hometown of Panthers captain Sasha Barkov.

The games against Dallas will take place at Nokia Arena, the home area for Tampere’s professional Liiga team, Taparra.

Both Barkov and his father played for Taparra, and Barkov has since become a part owner of the club.

Along with Barkov, Florida's Finnish players include Anton Lundell, Eetu Luostarinen and Niko Mikkola, and Panthers assistant coach Tuomo Ruutu also hails from Finland.

The Stars roster also features four Finns: Roope Hintz, Jani Hakanpaa, Miro Heiskanen and Esa Lindell.
