One of the main qualities the Florida Panthers look for when coveting players is character.

Florida may have one of the most skilled teams around, but they are also an incredible group of genuinely good people.

For the youngest members of the franchise, many of whom were recently drafted and have yet to make the jump to professional hockey, they are still learning about what kind of people they are becoming as adults and hockey players.

On Tuesday, the Panthers brought the players who are in South Florida to take part in the team’s annual development camp to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Fort Lauderdale.

It was there that the players headed up to the Child Life Zone on the eighth floor, where they were able to bring some smiles to the young patients inside.

In addition to playing games, the prospects joined the patients in decorating six special hockey jerseys.

Those jerseys, designed for goaltenders, will be worn by the Panthers goalie prospects during Florida’s Development Camp scrimmage on Thursday morning.

Some of the patients and their families may be in attendance for the scrimmage to see their hard work in action on the ice.

The scrimmage is set for 11 a.m. at the Baptist Health IcePlex in Fort Lauderdale.

It is open to the public and free to attend.
