Florida also signed forward Jonah Gadjovich to a 2-year contract extension

Panthers defenseman Gus Forsling speaks after Florida's 3-2 overtime win over Washington on Feb. 24

The Florida Panthers are taking care of a couple of their own.

Speaking at the Panthers new practice facility in Fort Lauderdale, General Manager Bill Zito announced a pair of contract extensions.

Florida has signed defenseman Gustav Forsling to an eight-year extension and forward Jonah Gadjovich to a two-year extension.

According to NHL Insider Kevin Weekes, Forsling's deal comes with an average annual value of $5.75 million.

Forsling, 27, has played each of the past four seasons with the Panthers after being plucked off the waiver wire by Zito in January of 2021.

Proving to be quite the find, Forsling has ascended to become a top pairing blueliner for Florida and would have been highly coveted if he had hit the open market this summer.

The Panthers signed Gadjovich during this past summer.

His deal comes with an AAV of $775,000, according to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman.

He’s emerged as a consistent, gritty winger that can chip in offensively when given the opportunity.
