Michael Traikos and Jacob Stoller of The Hockey News discussed whether Bill Zito has done enough to keep Florida a legitimate Stanley Cup contender
The Florida Panthers are Stanley Cup Champions.
Yes, it’s been more than two weeks since the Panthers defeated the Edmonton Oilers in an epic, seven-game Stanley Cup Final, but it’s still fun to say (and read) out loud.
As defending champions, one of the biggest questions that the Panthers are going to face in the coming months is whether they have done enough to maintain their spot as the top team in the NHL.
There has been a fair amount of turnover that Florida General Manager Bill Zito has had to manage.
The Panthers have lost defensemen Brandon Montour and Oliver Ekman-Larsson to free agency, as well as forwards Vladimir Tarasenko, Kevin Stenlund and Ryan Lomberg.
Added by Zito to the roster are forwards Jesper Boqvist, Tomas Nosek and A.J. Greer and defensemen Nate Schmidt, Adam Boqvist and Jaycob Megna.
Zito also inked Sam Reinhart and Anton Lundell to lengthy contract extensions.
Will the moves made by Zito be enough to keep the Panthers as a Stanley Cup contender in the upcoming season?
The Hockey News’ Michael Traikos and Jacob Stoller discussed the topic in a recent THN video, and you can check out their discussion below:
