We looked ahead to next season, looked back at Florida's record books and lots more over the past week

Hockey fans can give themselves a symbolic pat on the back this week because we’ve made it through the dog days of August.

Soon we’ll be into the month of September, which means rookie camp is right around the corner.

Looking ahead to the upcoming season, THN Florida highlighted several Panthers players who are approaching some career scoring milestones.

Keeping with the milestone theme, we also examined which players, as well as a coach and a broadcaster, are set to hit career marks in games played/coached/called.

There will be several new players wearing Panthers sweaters when Opening Night arrives, so we touched on each of the new numbers that they’ll each be wearing.

Taking a deep dive into the Panthers all-time record books, we found some memorable names in interesting places.

Last week Toronto signed superstar Auston Matthews to a massive, record-breaking contract extension, We reflected on two of Florida’s starts and their deals, and looked at why the Matthews deal with the Maple Leafs could also be good for the Panthers.

Earlier this summer, THN Florida caught up with Lightning star Steven Stamkos and asked him about the growing rivalry with the Panthers and how the success of both teams is great for hockey in Florida.

One of the biggest defining moments of last season came when Panthers Head Coach Paul Maurice lost his cool and completely flipped out at the team while on the bench in Toronto. We honored that moment, as it immediately preceded Florida's late-season playoff push that got the Cats into the big dance. 

Last weekend was the fifth annual Amerigol LATAM Cup, and seeing the growth of the tournament over the past several years has been quite remarkable.
