Sam Reinhart and Aleksander Barkov each extended their point scoring streaks as the Panthers shutout Winnipeg

The point scoring streaks continue for Florida Panthers Aleksander Barkov and Sam Reinhart.

The Panthers were led by Barkov and Reinhart, who each had three points Saturday night, as they defeated the Winnipeg Jets 5-0 in Sunrise.

Each respective streak has been uniquely impressive.

Over the course of his 10-game run, Reinhart has scored eight goals and contributed eight assists.

Barkov has had at least one assist in each of the eight games he's played since returning from an extended absence. He's assisted on a total of 13 goals during that span while adding three goals for good measure.

Barkov collected a goal and two assists Saturday night against Winnipeg. Reinhart failed to score a goal, but did assist on three others.

Panthers coach Paul Maurice spoke very highly of his captain after the game.

"Barkov clearly was dominant in the game," Maurice said. "He's been really good, like he was in Finland. He was very strong."

    PANTHERS NEEDED A BIG WIN

Barkov said after losing two straight games at home against New Jersey, the team needed to come out sharp and play Panthers' hockey while hosting the NHL-best Jets.

"It was just the right mindset coming into the game," Barkov said. "We knew we needed to get this one. We needed to play well and I think everyone decided that for themselves. As a group, we played the right way."

Barkov also said it was really just a question of playing harder and smarter.

That was the difference between Saturday against Winnipeg and the previous two games with the Devils.

"I think it was more like we just needed to work harder, that's about it," Barkov said. "Today was a good example of everyone working as hard as possible."

Maurice agreed with Barkov. The simple fact is that Saturday was an important game for Florida to win, especially on home ice.

"We needed it. You lose two at home, that hurts," Maurice said. "It's worse when it's the same team that beat you twice. So we needed a kind of foundation and get back to the basics of what we are good at."
