Florida will play either the Toronto Maple Leafs or Tampa Bay Lightning when playoffs begin next weekend

Panthers forward Vladimir Tarasenko speaks after Florida's 4-0 win over Columbus on April 11.

The Florida Panthers will be playing on home ice when the playoffs begin next week.

Florida clinched at least second place in the Atlantic Division on Saturday thanks to their 3-2 overtime win over the Buffalo Sabres.

Currently with 108 points, Florida moved back into first place in the Atlantic Division, leapfrogging the Boston Bruins, who play in Pittsburgh Saturday night and entered the game with 107 points.

The Panthers are assured to play either the Toronto Maple Leafs or Tampa Bay Lightning in the opening round of the playoffs.

Florida would have to win the division to play the Lightning.

After Saturday, Boston will have two games left on its schedule while Florida has only one.

The Bruins play at Washington on Monday night and then host Ottawa on Tuesday to close out the regular season.

Florida plays game 82 against Toronto on Tuesday, and the Leafs wrap up their regular season the following night in Tampa Bay.

It's worth noting that should the Panthers and Bruins end up tied in points, Florida holds the first tiebreaker, which is regulation wins. The Cats have 41 while Boston has just 35.

We’ll see how things play out.
