Right before the 2025 NHL trade deadline passed, the Florida Panthers acquired forward Brad Marchand from the Boston Bruins in exchange for a conditional 2027 second-round pick. The pick will turn into a first-rounder if the Panthers advance to the Eastern Conference Final and Marchand plays in at least half of Florida's post-season games.
Whether the Panthers end up sending a second-round pick or a first-round pick to the Bruins, it is absolutely apparent that bringing in Marchand has been a real home run for Florida. The veteran forward has been making a serious impact for the Panthers, but especially so during the playoffs thus far.
Marchand has been incredible for the Panthers this post-season, recording two goals, eight points, and a plus-8 rating in eight contests. He is also currently sporting a five-game point streak, where he has two goals and seven points over that span. This most notably includes Marchand's overtime winner in Game 3 of the Panthers' second-round series against the Toronto Maple Leafs, which cut Toronto's lead in the series to 2-1. With this, No. 63 has certainly been clutch for the Panthers.
One of the main reasons why the Panthers acquired Marchand at the deadline from the Bruins was because of his immense success in the playoffs. He is known for being a game-changer in the post-season, and he has been just that for the Panthers. It will be interesting to see how he builds on his hot play, but it is extremely difficult not to be impressed by what he is providing for the Cats. This is especially so when noting that they did not need to give up much to get him.
