Pat Maroon retired from the NHL at the end of the 2024-25 season. The Florida Panthers certainly had plenty of battles with Maroon throughout his career, as he spent four years with their biggest rival, the Tampa Bay Lightning. In addition, he went up against the Panthers in the second round of the post-season last year with the Boston Bruins.

With Maroon being a hard-nosed player and playing on multiple of the Panthers' rivals, he naturally had some bad blood on the ice with Florida's players over the years. When asked about the best chirp he received during his 14-year NHL career, Maroon revealed that it was from Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk.

"Matthew Tkachuk, he said, when I retire, I'm going to be his pool guy," Maroon said, followed with a laugh.

Tkachuk is certainly known for his great ability to get under his opponents' skin on the ice, and it's one of the many reasons why he is so effective. Clearly, Tkachuk's chirping ability has not been forgotten by his longtime on-ice rival, Maroon.

It is always entertaining to hear stories like this, and there's no question that Tkachuk got Maroon good with this chirp. It would not be surprising in the slightest if more players around the NHL remember chirps they have received from the Panthers star.

Tkachuk will now look to make an impact for the Panthers in their massive Game 5 against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday. In nine games so far this post-season, the 6-foot-2 winger has three goals, eight points, and a plus-1 rating.
