New NHL 25 video game will feature the names and likeness of all 32 of the league's head coaches
There is something new coming to NHL 25.
The popular hockey video game made annually by EA Sports is bringing something a little different to this year's game.
It's something that has been a major part of hockey, basically, since the beginning of hockey, but something that has been a bit of an untapped resource in video game form before.
We're talking, of course, about head coaches.
Hockey video games have long celebrated the NHL's players, from the best of the best to the lesser known thumpers, with their looks and signature moves getting the proper motion capture treatment.
Well, now the coaches are going to get in on the fun.

This year, NHL 25 will feature the name and likeness of all 32 head coaches across the league.
It's not just about the bench bosses' good looks, though.
The game will also feature grades for each coach, as well as their traits and coaching styles.

As far as Maurice is concerned, his video game-self received some pretty spectacular grades.
He's considered a "generalist" according to the game, and of the six different grades given to him, his lowest was a single "A" surrounded by five "A+" grades.
According to a statement put out by EA Sports, the different traits they use to judge the coaches will help to make each team's playing style unique to their respective bench boss.
Whether that means we'll get to see a Maurice blowup behind the virtual Panthers bench is unknown, but we'll surely find out soon enough.
This seems a very cool element to add to the NHL games, and let's be clear, the more Maurice mods and controls given to the users, the better.
Get on it, EA Sports!
