Imagine being a beer league hockey player taking the ice before a playoff game.
The excitement.
The fun.
The anticipation.
Then imagine watching your opponent take the ice.
Their goalie…a face you recognize.
That's because he's a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame and one of the best to ever lace up his skates.
Forget the playoff game, can I get a selfie?
There must have been some similar thoughts and feelings when Florida Panthers Special Advisor and former goaltender Roberto Luongo showed up to play in a beer league game last month at the Ice Den in Coral Springs.
Video of Luongo entering the locker room was posted on Instagram by @bryceshockeylife.
The story apparently goes, Luongo answered a Facebook ad looking for a goaltender to play in a playoff game.
The team he joined then went on to win 4-2 against the league’s five-time defending champion.
This caps off quite a summer for Luongo, who also saw his Panthers win the Stanley Cup back in June.

Now he's got his name on the Cup and he's become an instant South Florida beer league legend.
Not too shabby.
