Barkov now holds the Panthers franchise records for goals, assists, points, and games played.
Florida Panthers captain Sasha Barkov made some significant team history on Tuesday night at Mullett Arena.
Barkov, who has continued to leave his mark on the franchise that selected him second overall at the 2013 NHL Draft, moved into sole possession of Florida’s all-time assists list.
With the helper on Sam Reinhart’s third period power play goal, Barkov recorded career assist number 416.
That moved him past former teammate Jonathan Huberdeau, who finished his Panthers career with 415 assists before last summer’s blockbuster trade to Calgary that brought Matthew Tkachuk to South Florida.
Barkov now holds the Panthers franchise records for assists, goals (254), points (670) and games played (698).
“All those milestones, they all feel amazing,” Barkov said after the game. “I'm honored and I'm fortunate that I get to be a Florida Panther for such a long time and hopefully for even longer time. Of course, those milestones feel great, but they're gonna feel even better after the career, when you actually get a chance to like just relax and think about them.”
His 11 seasons with Florida are also tied for the most by any player, matching former Panthers captain Stephen Weiss.
