Spencer Knight set new team record Saturday with a shutout streak of to 213 minutes and 23 seconds

Spencer Knight’s play has been lights out lately. Knight had won nine of his last ten starts heading into Saturday and had shutouts in 3 of his last 4.

He carried back to back shutouts into Saturday’s game and was able to extend that shutout streak to 213 minutes and 23 seconds, setting a new Charlotte Checkers record.

Knight surpassed Michael Leighton's previous record of 192:02, but the streak came to an end when Knight gave up a Power Play goal to Bridgeport’s Dennis Cholowski in overtime. Regardless of the loss, Knight has taken his game to another level as of late.

In the month of March, Knight has started seven games. In those seven starts, he has a 5-1-0 record, with a 1.28 G.A.A and 0.947 save percentage. He has three shutouts as well and just missed adding a 4th Saturday. Knight could have extended this shutout streak even further if the Checkers could have pulled off the overtime win.

The Checkers are 14-3-3 since February 9 and no one will want to see them come playoff time, especially with Knight playing at such an elite level.

Knight is getting the proper development needed and no one will be surprised to see him in a Panthers jersey next season. A playoff call-up this season would not even be out of the question. He has been that good.
