Stanley Cup returns to Ontario for special visits with trio of Panthers
This week Sam Bennett, Aaron Ekblad and Jonah Gadjovich were scheduled for their 24 hours with the Stanley Cup
The Stanley Cup has returned to its home province for a few more special days following a fun month globetrotting.
The famous trophy has been across North America and spent a couple weeks overseas hanging out with a few Florida Panthers in Finland and Sweden.
Now, after a few days in New England, the Cup is back in Canada.
Panthers forward Jonah Gadjovich had a great day with the Stanley Cup, sharing it with his hometown community in Welland, Ontario.
His day included a quick workout session with Lord Stanley and a visit to the children’s summer camp at New Hope Church.
Cats center Sam Bennett also had a great day with the Stanley Cup.
He shared it with locals in East Gwillimbury, Ontario, bringing the Cup to the East Gwillimbury Sports Complex for a public event with fans where he took photos, signed autographs and all that good stuff.
“I got to bring the Cup to my hometown rink where I grew up playing hockey, and it was a pretty good turnout,” Bennett said.
He also brought the Cup the Southlake Regional Health Centre and spent time with some of the children there before a planned, intimate evening with his closest friends and family.
“We just got done at the hospital where I got to see a great group of kids that have been through some hard times. It’s pretty cool to see how excited they are to meet the Stanley Cup and take a picture,” Bennett said.
Over the weekend, Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad will take his turn with the Stanley Cup.
Ekblad, also an Ontario native, will start his day with the Cup on Saturday morning by holding a meet-and-greet with fans at the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre in Belle River.
