Bill Zito’s Father’s Day blockbuster unites the Tkachuk brothers in South Florida. We analyze the fallout and how this massive trade impacts the Panthers' looming goaltending situation.

If Sunday was any indication, the days leading up to this week’s NHL Draft could be quite entertaining.

The Florida Panthers once again have the attention of the entire league, making a pair of big trades on Sunday, when most people were celebrating Father’s Day.

First, Florida picked up a 2026 first-round pick (25th overall) and a 2027 conditional second-round pick from the Seattle Kraken in exchange for young forward Mackie Samoskevich.

It was a trade that signaled Florida General Manager Bill Zito was on the hunt for a big catch after acquiring additional draft capitol.

Then, just a few hours later, Zito and the Panthers pulled the trigger on a massive blockbuster deal, sending three first-round picks (9th overall and 25th overall in this year’s draft, and a top-10 protected selection in 2029) as well as a 2027 second-round pick to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for their captain, Brady Tkachuk.

The trade unites brothers Matthew and Brady, a pair of elite, physical forwards, on a Stanley Cup contending squad in South Florida.

After processing the trade, The Hockey Show hosts Roy Bellamy and David Dwork sat down to break down everything that happened and analyze the potential fallout, including what else Florida needs to do ahead of Opening Night.
