Florida Panthers practice on March 22 at Baptist Health IcePlex.

On Monday’s episode of the popular TSN 1050 Toronto radio show, “Overdrive” co-hosts Bryan Hayes and Jeff “Odog” O’Neill did a segment in which they jokingly took up issue with them not having  actual votes for the NHL awards. In response, they decided to cast votes of their own in this version of the “Overdrive NHL awards”.

In this segment, both Hayes and the Odog ranked their top 5 candidates for the Jack Adams award with their other co-host of the show, Jamie “Noodles” McLennan being the judge, as he has a vote for the real NHL awards.

Here is the entire segment.

At the 3:27 mark of the video, O’Neill reveals Panthers Coach Paul Maurice as his top choice for the Jack Adams Award. “Paul Maurice is your coach of the year. Went to the finals last year and what a rebound” O’neill says. “They stumbled and bumbled a bit at the beginning of the season, and they have established themselves as the front runner, I think to win the Stanley Cup”.

Strong words from the Odog praising both his former coach in Carolina in Paul Maurice and the Florida Panthers as a whole. Not only does he see Maurice as the Jack Adams favourite, but the Panthers as the front runner to win the Stanley Cup.

According to Fanduel’s current betting odds, Maurice has the third best odds to win the Jack Adams trophy at +1200, sitting behind just Canucks Coach Rick Tocchet and Capitals Coach Spencer Carbery. If you agree with O'Neill, those are some pretty good odds to look at, but always remember to bet responsibly.
