By all accounts, it's been a pretty fun summer for the Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers so far.

Members of the team have been enjoying their special days with the Stanley Cup for the past several weeks, as the famous trophy has made its way across North America and is now overseas moving between Sweden and Finland.

Back here in the states, the Panthers have received plenty of praise, and rightly so, but last week the team received some congratulatory messages from a bit of an unlikely place.

    The U.S. Senate Floor.

It was there that Florida Senators Rick Scott and Marco Rubio introduced a resolution "honoring the hockey team for their accomplishment and congratulating the loyal fan base for their support throughout the season."

    The resolution passed unanimously.

It mentioned several people by name, including Sam Reinhart and Sergei Bobrovsky for their All-Star selections and Sasha Barkov for winning the Selke Trophy, as well as Vincent Viola and his family, Matthew Caldwell, Bill Zito and, of course, Panthers Head Coach Paul Maurice.

One section of the resolution states that it "respectfully requests that the Secretary of the Senate transmit an enrolled copy of this resolution to members of the Florida Panthers ownership, management, and coaching staff."
