It’s important for some hockey players to take some time during the offseason and get away from the game for a bit.
Considering how much time, energy and focus goes into perfecting the game of hockey during the season, which for some can last from September to June, it makes sense that there are players who feel the need to step away from the ice and expose their body to different activities when given the opportunity.
That’s exactly what Florida Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad was up to last weekend, when he took some time to meet and greet a group of enthusiastic, and hungry, Panthers fans.
Ekblad teamed up with popular poultry eatery Huey Magoo’s for what they called a High Five Hook Up promotion.
On Saturday, Ekblad joined the crew working at the Huey Magoo’s location in West Boca Raton to serve customers from behind the counter and take photos with Panthers fans.
The promotion was inspired by Ekblad’s jersey No. 5 and Huey Magoo’s signature dish: their five-piece chicken tender meal.
During Ekblad’s visit, the restaurant was only serving five-piece tender meals as part of the promotion.
In addition, a High Five Hook Up offer was also available at other South Florida Huey Magoo’s locations, which included the five-piece tender meal and a special gift.
Last season, the Panthers and Huey Magoo’s partnered up for a promotion that offered fans a free three-piece tender meal with the purchase of another following any Cats win.
