Dubois ready to shine with Kings

What feels like forever ago, the Los Angeles Kings made a big splash to begin the offseason by acquiring one of the top young centers in the league.

While trading away key forwards in order to grab this player, many insiders believed that this trade would not work out for the Kings.

Now, with training camp starting in a couple of weeks, the sentiment around Pierre-Luc Dubois is changing.

Earlier in his career, Dubois had requested trades away from the Blue Jackets and Jets. This has given off the assumption that Dubois is unable to stick with a team unless they are winning.

Now Eric Stephens of The Athletic thinks that Dubois will get rid of that stigma and become a key player for the Kings this upcoming season.

"Dubois gives you enough of those tantalizing moments to think that a true game-changer exists within. He’s now in a place of his own choosing, with a home-run contract in his pocket. And he’s on a team looking to break past the Oilers and Golden Knights and stamp itself as a true Stanley Cup contender. It is his time."

The third overall pick in the 2016 draft has proven that he has star potential. In years where he hasn't requested a trade, Dubois has scored at least 18 goals and played in at least 70 games.

Now that Dubois is under the bright lights of LA, his star should only shine brighter. His play on the ice will be talked about, and his attitude will be a thing of the past.
