The captain of the Kings will not be leaving anytime soon. The Kings announced on Thursday that Anze Kopitar has signed a two-year extension.
The 35-year-old's deal will now run through the 2025-2026 season. Kopitar was heading into his final year of his eight-year, $8 million deal that he signed back in 2016.
Kopitar will now be making $7 million a year once his extension starts in 2024-2025.
-"Los Angeles has become home for me and my family, and I'm excited to extend my career here," said Kopitar. "I've been with this organization through it all and I know our group is close to achieving something special. I look forward to helping us reach that next level and achieving the ultimate goal of winning the Stanley Cup again."

Kopitar is entering his 18th season with the LA Kings. The two-time Stanley Cup winner was the team's leading point-getter last season.
In this year's playoffs, Kopitar led the team with seven points in the six games played against the Oilers.
The Kings captain also came home from the NHL awards with his second Lady Byng Memorial Trophy in his career. He was awarded the trophy for having the most sportsmanship while playing at a high level in the league.
By the time Kopitar's extension is finished, he will be 37 and finishing his 20th season with the team.
As long as Kopitar continues his stellar play, there could be more extensions for him in the future.
