ST. PAUL, Minn - For his retirement press conference at the Xcel Energy Center, Marc-Andre Fleury announced he will be joining Team Canada for the Men's World Championships.

I guess you can say Fleury has maybe played his final prank.

Fleury, 40, says he went home after the last day and thought to himself that he was done. Then a few days later he decided he wanted to play some more. So he is off to the World Championships for Team Canada.

“After we lost that night I was like … I’m done. But then a couple days go by and I was like yeah I think that would be pretty cool. Yeah, yeah, there has. So, yeah. I’ll go, too. So, just a little longer, right? I went home, my kids were crazy, I was like jeez I gotta keep playing. No, they weren’t. They weren’t. Not that bad. I don’t know if I’m supposed to say or not, but I guess it’s too late now. Sorry if I wasn’t," Fleury said on going to World Championship. "I’m excited, excited to go. I’ve never played in the World Championship. I haven’t played with Sid in a while obviously, right, so I think it’ll be fun to go spend some time together and yell at him in practice a bit, keep him honest in practice.”

He will join former teammate Sidney Crosby at the Worlds. It will be his first World Championships that he has played in.
