ST. Paul - My player to watch for in tonight's game against the Calgary Flames is Marcus Johansson. The 33-year-old forward has one goal and 11 points on the season in 26 games for the Wild.
John Hynes has shown he is not afraid to break up any line combos if a game or two goes south and after losing two straight games, Hynes switched up the lines.
Johansson will play with Marco Rossi and Mats Zuccarello for the second straight game after playing most of his minutes with Joel Eriksson Ek and Matt Boldy this season.
Last year the Wild traded for Johansson at the trade deadline. After the trade, Johansson slid onto a line with Boldy and Eriksson Ek and took off. He notched six goals and 18 points in 20 games for the Wild.
That line in general was incredible. In the last 20 games of the season, Boldy scored 15 goals which was second in the NHL during that span while notching eight assists for 23 points. Eriksson Ek notched two goals and 14 points in 17 games.
But so far this season that line has been broken up and put back together a couple of times but just hasn't produced the points they did last year. After losing two straight games, Hynes swapped Kirill Kaprizov and Johansson's spots in Seattle and both the lines looked good.
After a good game in Seattle, Johansson should be a player to watch out for. The 6-foot-1 forward hasn't scored in 21 straight games but looks to be on the verge of getting back on the scoresheet.
