Brock Faber is set to miss his first ever NHL game with an injury.

ST. PAUL - The Minnesota Wild (26-11-4) host the Colorado Avalanche (25-16-1) tonight before going on the road. They will play the Avalanche with a few key guys out.

Jonas Brodin and Brock Faber both got injured in the Wild's 6-4 win over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night.

Faber, 22, suffered an upper-body injury in the first period of the game against the Blues. It happened just 35 seconds into the game after he took an elbow to the head.

After an offensive-zone face-off. Brodin passed the puck to Faber on the point. Before making a play, Blues' forward Jake Neighbours went to hit Faber and drove his elbow into Faber's head.

Faber played five more shifts after that but looked a little woozy doing so. He did not return after his sixth shift of the night.

Wild head coach John Hynes confirmed this morning that the elbow to the head is what will keep Faber out of the lineup tonight for the first time in his career. He has played in 131 consecutive games (including playoffs) for the Wild.
