Wild's Brock Faber won't compete in the 2024 World Championships due to fractured ribs.

ST. PAUL - Brock Faber is a Calder Trophy finalist and after his tremendous rookie season, I'm not sure how you wouldn't give him the Calder Trophy for the best rookie in the NHL.
With the Wild not competing in the playoffs this year, every one on the team could go play in the 2024 World Championships if they are invited. Faber would be a no-brainer to play for team USA.
But the 21-year-old rookie said he will not be going.
"World Championships I've discussed with Billy [Guerin] and I'm not going. So I'll just focus on my summer."
Faber said he wants to heal a couple of injuries in the offseason and focus on getting better for next year.
Wild General Manager and President of Hockey Operations Bill Guerin, said that Faber has been playing the last two months of the season with fractured ribs.
"The ribs. Brock’s been playing with fractured ribs for two months," Guerin said. "That’s the type of kid he is. He never complained, never said boo, he could have been out of the lineup a number of times and he just wasn’t.”
Despite playing with fractured ribs for two months, Faber decided to continue to play. He even played when the Wild were eliminated from the playoffs. He was one of only two Wild players to have played in a full 82 game season. He never missed a game.
"You obviously try to stay in the lineup as much as you can. So definitely something I take pride in," Faber said on if he takes pride in playing a full season. "Staying healthy, whether it's that or, playing through stuff. It's being able to play all 82 games. It's something to strive for every year."
