Former Wild Coach Mike Yeo is now the assistant coach of the Ottawa Senators.

Mike Yeo has been rumored to be taking an assistant coaching role in Ottawa for some time now but with the Ottawa Senators announcing it on Tuesday, it is not official.

Many reports suggested Yeo wanted to coach somewhere closer to home. He was with the Vancouver Canucks last year and could've signed an extension to stay on the staff but Yeo elected to leave and become the Senators Assistant Coach.

Yeo was in the Wild's organization from 2010 to 2016. Before he was the head coach of the Wild, Yeo was the Houston Aeros' head coach (AHL Affiliate) during the 2010-11 season. He eventually took over as the Wild's head coach from 2011-2016.

The former Wild coach has a 246-181-45 record as a head coach. He went 173-132-44 in 349 career games with the Wild across five seasons. Yeo and Nolan Baumgartner will join Ben Sexton and Daniel Alfredsson as Assistant Coaches on Travis Green's staff.
