The former Wild assistant coach has been an assistant in the NHL for the last eight seasons. That will continue after the Seattle Kraken announced Wednesday that they have hired the former Wild coach Bob Woods.
Woods worked for the Wild the last seven seasons before he was relieved of his duties with Dean Evason on November 27th, 2023. He was in charge of the Wild's penalty kill and the defensemen.
The Kraken recently hired a new head coach in Dan Bylsma. He rounded out his coach staff earlier today by bringing Jessica Campbell up from the AHL with him and by hiring Woods.
“I coached with Bob in Buffalo [Sabres, 2016-17, when Bylsma was head coach],” said Bylsma in the team's release. “I got a good familiarity with how Bob worked with our defensemen and him being able to relate to different types of players. Bob has demonstrated his abilities over the course of his NHL coaching career, having worked in Washington with the likes of John Carlson, Cam Fowler, Shea Theodore and Hampus Lindholm. Along with establishing great relationships in Minnesota with [Ryan] Suter, [Jonas] Brodin and [captain Jared] Spurgeon.”
