The former Wild defenseman was put on waivers by the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday and was just claimed by the Utah Hockey Club on Thursday.
Dakota Mermis played in 47 games for the Wild during the 2023-24 season. He had three goals, eight points, and was a minus-2.
The Wild signed Mermis in 2020 after he played in 20 NHL games with the Arizona Coyotes and the New Jersey Devils across two seasons.
Mermis, 31, played 54 games for the Wild across four NHL seasons. He has skated in 74 career NHL games. He was signed on a one-year deal by Toronto at the start of the season but has been rehabbing an injury.
Utah has now claimed him following his full recovery from his injury.
