The former Wild forward has been trending in the right direction as he is staying hot with the Chicago Blackhawks recently.
Ryan Donato just had a rare four-point game on Friday night against the Nashville Predators that included two goals and two assists in the Hawks' 6-2 win.
Donato, 28, has already established career highs in goals with 18 and points with 36 this season in just 52 games. He already has tied a career high in assists with 18 this season as well.
The 6-foot forward is on pace for 28 goals, 28 assists, and 56 points in 80 games for the Blackhawks. Since Chicago's coaching change, Donato has been bumped back up to the first line with Connor Bedard.
He has three goals and four assists in his last three games and is riding a three-game point streak.
Minnesota traded forward Charlie Coyle to the Boston Bruins in 2018 in exchange for Donato. After the trade Donato had four goals, 12 assists, and 16 points in 22 games.
The next season he had 14 goals, nine assists, and 23 points in 62 games. He was traded the following season to the San Jose Sharks after the Wild decreased his ice-time by five minutes.
Donato has proven in his career that he is more of a top-six player than a bottom-six player. He recorded 16 points in 22 games with over 15 minutes of ice time a night his first season with the Wild. He played fourth line minutes the last season with the Wild and was eventually traded.
Safe to say getting top-six minutes in Chicago has payed off for both Donato and the Blackhawks.
