Former Wild forward Pat Maroon's time in Boston might have just came to an end.

Former Wild forward Pat Maroon's time in Boston might have just came to an end after the trade the team recently made.

The Boston Bruins made a big trade just minutes before the start of Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. They traded goaltender Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators for Mark Kastelic, a 2024 first round pick, and Joonas Korpisalo.

Kastelic, 25, plays a similar style of game to Pat Maroon. The 6-foot-3 forward is known for his size and physicality, which is the same to what Maroon brings to the table.

Acquiring Kastelic may indicate the Bruins aren't planning to bring Maroon back but we will see.

Maroon, 36, was acquired by the Wild before the 2023-24 season after Ryan Reaves signed a three-year deal in Toronto. The Wild gave Tampa a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft to acquire Maroon and Max Cajkovic.

The 6-foot-3 forward played in the first 49 games for the Wild where he put up four goals and 16 points. He got in six fights and had 60 penalty minutes for the Wild as well. He was later traded to Boston at the deadline for Luke Toporowski and a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.

Now it seems, Maroon's time in Boston may be coming to an end. He is a pending free agent but was someone Boston was considering bringing back. We will see if the trade to acquire Kastelic changes that.
