Former Wild forward Mitchell Chaffee signs a two-year, one-way extension to stay in Tampa Bay.
The Tampa Bay Lightning announced yesterday they have re-signed Chaffee to a two-year, one-way contract with an average annual salary of $800,000.
Chaffee was a top College Free Agent that the Wild were able to sign. He went to the AHL with the Iowa Wild where he played in 28 games his first season. Chaffee notched two goals and 17 points.
The next year Chaffee recorded 23 goals and 39 points in 49 AHL games with the Iowa Wild and got called up at the end of the season to play in two NHL games.
He eventually signed with the Lightning after the Wild elected to not sign him. Chaffee played in 30 regular season games with the Lightning and recorded four goals and seven points.
Chaffee, 26, ranked tied for fourth among Lightning forwards in plus/minus and sixth in hits with 88. He played in all five first round games against the Florida Panthers and was tied for first on the team in hits with 23.
He has fit in well with Tampa and now has signed a two-year, one-way contract.
