On Monday morning Team Germany selected its preliminary six players for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics.

The Winter Games is 235 days away. Most of the teams will be announcing the first six players for their team on Monday. Today, we look at Germany. 

Former Minnesota Wild forward Nico Sturm was one of the six players that Team Germany announced. 

Sturm, 30, spent the first four years of his NHL career with the Wild after going undrafted. He recorded 20 goals, 16 assists, 36 points, and 118 hits in 111 games with the Wild.

The Wild eventually traded him during the 2021-22 season to the Colorado Avalanche for Tyson Jost. Sturm won the Stanley Cup that season.

The 6-foot-3 center is currently playing for the Florida Panthers who are up 3-2 in the series against the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Finals. He is a free agent after the season ends.
