Mitchell Chaffee was signed by the Wild in March of 2020 after spending three seasons with the University of Massachusetts where he put up 47 goals and 95 points in 109 games for the Minutemen.

After he was signed by the Wild, Chaffee spent three years with the Iowa Wild where he recorded 30 goals and 63 points in 87 career games. After only playing in ten AHL games for the Wild last year due to a lower-body injury, Chaffee put up five goals and seven points and elected free agency.

Chaffee, 26, signed a deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning before the season and has spent most of the year in the AHL with the Syracuse Crunch. His deal is a one-year, two-way contract with an NHL cap hit of $775,000.

In 33 games in the AHL this year, Chaffee has 11 goals and 25 points with a plus-seven rating. In his second game with the Lightning this year, the 6-foot-1 forward scored his first NHL goal and recorded his first NHL assist on the same night.
