Zach Parise, the former Wild forward, is set to make his Colorado Avalanche debut tonight against the New York Rangers.
Parise, 39, spent nine seasons in Minnesota before being bought out by the Wild in 2021. Parise signed a 13-year deal back in 2012 and recorded 199 goals and 400 points in 558 career games with the Wild.
After recently signing a one-year deal over a week ago with the Avalanche, the 5-foot-11 forward is set to play on a line with Ryan Johansen and Artturi Lehkonen.
Johansen was traded to the Avalanche in the off-season from the Nashville Predators, where current Wild head coach John Hynes was coaching.
In 49 games for the Avalanche this season, Johansen has 11 goals and 18 points. Lehkonen is set to play in his third game since his injury that kept him out for about two months. The 28-year-old forward has three goals and eight points in 14 games for the Avalanche this year.
The Wild play the Avalanche two more times this year, once in Colorado in March and once in Minnesota on April 4th. Minnesota is still paying Zach Parise and will be until the 2029-30 season. After the 2024-25 season, the Wild only owe Parise $833,333 a year for the next four seasons.
