The former Wild goaltender signed a one-year deal with Winnipeg earlier.

Former Wild goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen, signed a one-year contract worth $1 million with the Winnipeg Jets at the start of free agency.

He was placed on waivers by the team on Thursday.

Kahkonen, 28, started 51 games for the Wild across three seasons. He went 31-17-4 with a .907 save percentage and a 2.88 goals-against-average with the Wild and was eventually traded at the 2022 deadline to San Jose for Jake Middleton.

Middleton has been with the team for three years and was extended before the season started for another four years after this year.

Kahkonen played three years in San Jose and was traded to the New Jersey Devils at the deadline last year. The Devils did not re-sign him which made him a free agent.

The Jets signed him and now have placed him on waivers.
