Former Wild goaltender Darcy Kuemper was recently traded to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for forward Pierre-Luc Dubois.
Kuemper, 34, was originally drafted by the Minnesota Wild in 2009. He played in five seasons for the Wild where he went 41-34-14 in 89 games. He had a 2.60 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage in his Wild career.
The Wild let Kuemper go after the 2016-17 season after they moved forward with Devan Dubnyk as their starter. Kuemper signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Kings and was later traded by the Kings to the Arizona Coyotes.
He spent four years with the Coyotes and later moved onto Colorado where he pushed the Avalanche to a Stanley Cup. After winning the Cup, Kuemper signed a five-year deal worth $5,250,000 a season with the Washington Capitals.
Just two years into his deal, the Capitals have decided to trade him to the Kings in exchange for Dubois, a 25-year-old center who is at the start of a seven-year deal worth $8,500,000 a season.
The Kings are saving a lot of money and have now solved their goaltending issues for the next season. Kuemper is 15-10-1 in his Kings career with a .932 save percentage and a 2.10 goals-against-average.
