With his 139th career power-play point Tuesday in Buffalo, Jared Spurgeon passed Ryan Suter and added another franchise record to his historic Wild career.

Minnesota Wild captain Jared Spurgeon added another franchise record to an already lengthy list Tuesday night in Buffalo.

Spurgeon recorded the primary assist on Danila Yurov's second-period power-play goal in the Wild's 3-2 overtime loss to the Buffalo Sabres. The assist gave Spurgeon 139 career power-play points, moving him past Ryan Suter for the most by a defenseman in Wild history.

Suter recorded 138 power-play points during his nine seasons with Minnesota.

With the record, Spurgeon has now climbed to the top of virtually every major offensive category for a defenseman in franchise history.

The 36-year-old is the Wild's all-time leader among defensemen in games played, goals, assists, points, power-play goals and now power-play points.

Spurgeon has spent his entire NHL career with Minnesota after originally signing with the organization as a free agent in 2010. More than 1,000 games later, his name is scattered throughout the top of the franchise record book.

He already became the Wild's all-time leading scorer among defensemen in 2023 when he passed Suter in career points. Since then, Spurgeon has continued to add distance between himself and the defensemen who came before him.

Tuesday's milestone came on Minnesota's first goal of the night.

With the Wild on the man advantage, Spurgeon moved the puck to Yurov in the right circle. Yurov hammered a one-timer past Sabres goaltender Colten Ellis for his first goal of the season and gave Minnesota a 1-0 lead.

It was another entry in the record book for a player who has quietly become the standard for Wild defensemen.

Spurgeon doesn't just own one or two franchise marks anymore. When it comes to longevity and offensive production from the blue line in Minnesota, the record book belongs to the Wild captain.
