
Sweden was eliminated from the IIHF Men's World Championships today after their 7-3 loss to Czechia in the semi-finals. The Minnesota Wild had five players on Sweden and one on Czechia.
Filip Gustavsson started the game for Sweden but was later pulled after allowing five goals. Both Marcus Johansson and Joel Eriksson Ek scored in the game but Sweden's tournament has officially come to an end.
Eriksson Ek and Johansson were given awards for being top players in the tournament. Each team will announce three recipients for the awards at the end of the tournament.
So far the Wild have been well represented. Marco Rossi was a top player for Austria, Matt Boldy was a top player for USA, and Samuel Hlavaj was a top player for Slovakia. Erik Karlsson was the other recipient for Sweden.
Johansson finished the tournament with five goals and ten points in eight games. He was a plus-12 as well, which leads the tournament as of now. Johansson was on the ice for one goal against at 5v5 all tournament.
Eriksson Ek finished the tournament with seven goals and nine points in eight games. He finished tied for second in goals and second in short-handed goals.
