The Minnesota superstar enters elite territory Tuesday, trailing only McDavid, Crosby, and Ovechkin for points through 400 games while chasing the Wild's third straight victory this season.

Kirill Kaprizov hasn’t needed 400 games to establish himself as one of the best players in Minnesota Wild history. But he’ll officially reach that milestone Tuesday night.

Kaprizov is set to play his 400th career NHL game when the Wild (2-0-0) take on the Buffalo Sabres (1-1-0) at KeyBank Center. He enters the night with 233 goals and 245 assists for 478 points through his first 399 games.

Those numbers put into perspective just how productive Kaprizov has been since arriving in the NHL.

Among active players, only Connor McDavid (553), Sidney Crosby (552), Alex Ovechkin (534) and Evgeni Malkin (480) recorded at least 478 points before playing their 400th career game.

Kaprizov has done more than pile up points along the way. He has already taken over several of Minnesota’s most significant offensive records.

His 233 goals are the most in franchise history, as are his 82 power-play goals. He also owns the three highest single-season point totals by a Wild player and remains the only player in franchise history to record a 100-point season.

He has opened the 2026-27 season with three goals in Minnesota’s first two games. After scoring in the Wild’s season-opening win over Nashville, Kaprizov scored twice in Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Boston, including his second power-play goal of the young season.

Now comes an opponent against which Kaprizov has also produced at a high level.

He has seven goals and seven assists for 14 points in nine career games against Buffalo, an average of more than a point and a half per game.

Kaprizov’s 400th game is ultimately just another regular-season game on the schedule. But his production through the first 399 puts the milestone in a different light.

It took Kaprizov fewer than 400 games to become the Wild’s all-time leading goal scorer and put himself in statistical company with some of the most productive players of his generation.

Game No. 400 comes Tuesday night in Buffalo, with Kaprizov and the Wild looking to improve to 3-0-0. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
