Marco Rossi is the only active NHL player who is playing for Team Austria at the 2024 IIHF Men's World Championships. His team was down 6-1 to start the third period.
Coming back from a 6-1 deficit to Team Canada, which has one of the most stacked rosters in the whole tournament, seems like a pretty daunting task. Right?
Well not for team Austria it wasn't. Austria scored three minutes into the third period and followed it up with another goal just under a minute later. About six minutes later they scored again.
With under five minutes left, Rossi picked up the secondary assist on Peter Schneider's goal to put Austria within one goal. With 49 seconds left in the game, Rossi scored to tie it.
The comeback came up short for Austria though as John Tavares scored 15 seconds into overtime to beat Austria. Still a crazy comeback nonetheless. Rossi finished the game with one goal, one assist, two shots, and was a plus-4.
