ST. PAUL - Wild head coach John Hynes said yesterday that forward Marcus Foligno will not travel with the team due to a lower-body injury that he suffered in the game on Friday.
Foligno, 32, was injured with 1:31 remaining left in the second period when Marcus Pettersson tripped him. It seemed harmless when it happened but it is clearly enough to have Foligno placed on the Injured Reserve list.
“Right now we’re just planning on him missing a couple of games,” Hynes said.
He did return in the third period but only played an 11-second shift on the penalty kill. Foligno later skated to the bench in a rush, slammed his stick, and ran down the tunnel.
The 6-foot-3 forward has nine goals and 20 points in 47 games this year for the Wild. He missed a game earlier this year with a sickness but will now miss the next few games.
