After a quiet first day for the Minnesota Wild with no picks in the first round, the Wild have made their first pick from the 2025 NHL Draft. With pick No. 52, the Wild selected defenseman Theodor Hallquisth from Orebro of the Swedish Junior League.
Hallquisth, 18, was ranked 56th by The Hockey News' Ryan Kennedy. He is a shutdown type of defenseman who has a little physical side to his game.
The 6-foot-1 defenseman played 41 games in the Orebro HK J20 league. He recorded five goals and 17 points for Orebro. In four playoff games, Hallquisth recorded two goals and five points.
As a right-shot defender, Hallquisth says he prides himself as a two-way defenseman and is a big Jonas Brodin fan.
