On this day in 2020, the Wild traded forward Jason Zucker to Pittsburgh.

Jason Zucker spent nine years in Minnesota where he played in 456 games. He notched 132 goals and 243 points. Zucker also won the King Clancy Memorial Trophy in 2019 which is annually given to an NHL player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and who has made a significant humanitarian contribution to his community.

Zucker, 32, spent four years with the Penguins and scored 50 goals and 95 points in 172 games before signing with the Arizona Coyotes in the offseason of 2023.

In the trade that sent Zucker to Pittsburgh the Wild got back Alex Galchenyuk, Calen Addison, and a 2020 conditional first-round pick. The condition was if Pittsburgh's pick fell between 1-15 they could transfer the pick from 2020 to 2021.

Pittsburgh elected to convert the first-round pick to 2021. The 2020 first-round pick was the 15th overall pick and the Penguins traded it to Toronto along with Evan Rodrigues, Filip Hallander, and David Warsofsky for Pontus Aberg, Jesper Lindgren, and Kasperi Kapanen.

Aberg actually played for the Wild during the 2018-19 season. He never played for Pittsburgh but instead signed in the KHL.

Quite the trade tree for the Wild though. The 2021 first-rounder they received turned into Carson Lambos who is currently playing in the AHL for the Iowa Wild. Lambos has three goals and 11 points in 43 games.

Addison, 23, spent four years in Minnesota after the trade and notched five goals and 38 points in 92 games. Addison was traded for Adam Raska during this season.

Galchenyuk played in only 14 games for the Wild after the trade and notched three goals and seven points.
