Recent Wild fourth-round pick was caught on a mic telling Wild GM that he made the 'biggest steal of the draft.'
The Minnesota Wild released a video on their social media platforms of the President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Bill Guerin mic'd up at the 2024 Upper Deck NHL Draft.
Later in the viedo the Wild's fourth-round pick, Aron Kiviharju, went up to Guerin and said he [Guerin] just made the biggest steal of the draft.
"Let me tell you one thing, man," Kiviharju told Guerin. "You just made the biggest steal of the draft. I promise you that."
Guerin responded, "Thanks, buddy. I know we did."
After Kiviharju went around the Wild's table to introduce himself, assistant general manager Michael Murray asked Guerin what Kiviharju said to him.
Guerin explained to the staff what Kiviharju said and followed it up by saying; "Oh, God, I love that." Guerin said to Murray and Mat Sells. "That's great. Kid knows how to make a first impression."
Kiviharju was once a projected first-round pick but injuries limited him to very few games during his draft year which led to him dropping as far as he did. If he can get back to himself, the Wild might've made the biggest steal of the draft for sure.
