Elliotte Friedman reported on X, formally known as Twitter, today that the Wild are happy to keep goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury past the trade deadline and will not move the veteran goaltender.
Fleury, 39, has made the playoffs in his last 17 seasons and obviously would like to make that 18 this year. But Fleury want's to make it 18 with the Wild.
The veteran goaltender is on the last year of his deal but has a full no move clause. As The Athletic's Michael Russo has reported earlier, Fleury will decide his fate and Wild President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Bill Guerin is totally fine with that.
Playoffs or not, Fleury seemly wants to see it through with the Wild. He wants to remain with the Wild through the rest of the season and then decide after, what is in store for his future.
In 28 games this year, Fleury has posted a 12-10-3 record with a 2.92 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage with one shutout.
Despite playing in more of a back-up role this season, Wild head coach still expects both Fleury to help the Wild get into the playoffs and will lean on both of goaltenders down the stretch.
"Well, it'll be very important for both guys to play," Hynes said on Fleury and Filip Gustavsson. "I think when you look at the amount of games that we have in the short amount of time and the way the schedule sets up, you're going to need two goalies playing really well coming down the stretch."
