

ST. PAUL, Minn - As first reported by Michael Russo of The Athletic, the Minnesota Wild are expected to hire former Anaheim Ducks head coach Greg Cronin to be the Iowa Wild's head coach.
The Wild have now confirmed the report.
Cronin, 62, was the Ducks head coach from 2023 to 2025. In his two seasons as head coach, the Ducks went 62-87-15 in 164 games. The Ducks missed the playoffs in both seasons.
He was an NHL assistant coach for 12 seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Islanders.
The Arlington, Mass. native coached Northeastern University for six seasons from 2005 to 2011. He won Hockey East's Bob Kullen Coach of the Year Award in 2009 for Northeastern.

Cronin has previously coached in the American Hockey League (AHL). With the Colorado Eagles and Bridgeport Islanders from 2003 to 2005, Cronin led his teams to a 242-165-51 record in 458 games.
The Iowa Wild went 27-37-8 in both of the last two seasons with Brett McLean as the head coach. They finished 30th in the AHL in 2024-25 and 29th in 2023-24. McLean took a NHL Assistant coaching job with the Vancouver Canucks on June 5th.
