Minnesota Wild President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Bill Guerin announced today, the hiring of Jack Capuano to be the team's next assistant coach.
At the end of May, the Wild relieved Darby Hendrickson of his coaching duties. He later joined the Nashville Predators as an assistant coach.
Hendrickson had spent the last 14 seasons on the bench for the Wild as their assistant coach. The Wild fired head coach Dean Evason and assistant coach Bob Woods after a 5-10-4 start to the season and replaced them with John Hynes and Pat Dwyer, who was with the Iowa Wild.
After Dwyer got called up to run the Wild's penalty kill, the Iowa Wild replaced him with nine-year NHL defenseman, Cody Franson. But on Monday, the Wild relieved his coaching duties.
With another coaching spot still to fill, the Wild hired Capuano as the NHL's assistant coach.
Capuano joins the Wild after spending the last five seasons as Associate Coach with the Ottawa Senators from 2019-24. He also served as the Head Coach with the New York Islanders for parts of seven seasons from 2010-17.
In addition, the Wild has also promoted Cody McLeod to Assistant Director of Player Development and named Brian Grogesky Assistant Athletic Trainer, Abe Edson Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, and Dominic Hennig Manager of Team Services.
