The Wild's captain set a franchise record on Tuesday night.

The Minnesota Wild's captain set a franchise record in the club's 5-4 shootout win over the Utah Hockey Club on Tuesday.

Jared Spurgeon logged 24 minutes and eight seconds in the game for the Wild. By doing so, Spurgeon passed Mikko Koivu for the most time on ice skated in franchise history.

Spurgeon, 35, has played in 889 games in his NHL career, all with the Minnesota Wild. He is second all-time in that category behind Koivu's 1,028 career games played with Minnesota.

But on Tuesday, Spurgeon passed Koivu for most minutes played with 19,719. The top five is now: Koivu (19,718), Jonas Brodin (18,258), Ryan Suter (17,731), and Nick Schultz (14,551).
