It was announced on Thursday that Marat Khusnutdinov's rights were traded to SKA of the KHL.
It was announced Thursday morning by SKA Saint Petersburg that the club had acquired the rights of Marat Khusnutdinov in exchange for two players.
HC Sochi acquired Khusnutdinov during the 2023-24 season and helped the young Wild prospect grow into a better player. He had zero points in six games for SKA to start the season and was getting under five minutes of ice time a night.
After he was traded to Sochi, Khusnutdinov recorded six goals and 20 points in 49 games and eventually became the captain of the team.
Two seasons ago Khusnutdinov recorded 11 goals and 41 points in 63 games for SKA but after the desire to leave the KHL for the NHL came about, SKA barely played Khusnutdinov. This led to the trade.
Now SKA has acquired Khusnutdinov's rights back for defenseman Maxim Fedotov and forward Ilya Fedotov. If Khusnutdinov leaves the NHL for the KHL he would belong to SKA.
Khusnutdinov, 21, has one goal and four points in 16 NHL games last season for the Wild. He finished the season in a bit of a higher role and recorded one goal and two assists in the last six games of the season.
