the Wild have recalled top prospect Jesper Wallstedt from Iowa.It was expected that the Wild would soon recall top prospect Jesper Wallstedt from Iowa while Filip Gustavsson has been out. But Wallstedt was hurt when Gustavsson went on the Injured Reserve.
But since recovering from his injury, the Wild's top prospect played in two games for the Iowa Wild and now has been called up. The Wild sent Zane McIntyre back to the AHL in a corresponding move.
Wallstedt, 21, is 11-9-0 in the AHL this season with a 2.54 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage with two shutouts in 20 games played.
The Wild face the Dallas Stars tomorrow night on home ice before they go to Dallas to face the Stars on Wednesday. Marc-Andre Fleury is expected to make his fifth straight start tomorrow against the Stars in hopes of passing Patrick Roy for second all-time with 552 wins.
Wallstedt may start in Dallas on Wednesday or at least one of either, Friday at home against the Philadelphia Flyers or Saturday against the Arizona Coyotes at home.
Fleury, 39, has played in five straight games, about to be six tomorrow, and has started four straight. Wallstedt will give Fleury a brief break before taking on more games with Gustavsson likely not coming back next week.
